Comet Garradd paid a visit to the globular cluster Messier 71 on the night of August 23, 2011. This picture of the pair was taken though a Borg 101ED apo refractor operating at f6.4 by a modified Canon XSi DSLR. Two exposures of 5 minutes each at ISO 1600 were combined in ImagesPlus. The movement of the comet between exposures can be seen in the double image of the nucleus.
