The Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae (#20)
This is an image of M8, the Lagoon Nebula below, topped by M20, the Trifid Nebula, both caught in the 'steam' coming out of the spout of the Teapot in Sagittarius. It was taken on July 4, 2011 as part of a string of exposures. For this current image, five 5 min. guided exposures with a modified Canon XSi at ISO 1600 through a 101mm Borg Astrograph were used in the composite together with corresponding dark frames at 15°C., processed in ImagesPlus.
