Ryan Ransom - Friend of RASC Okanagan
RYAN RANSOM: The Okanagan Centre for the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada wishes to specially cite our member Ryan Ransom for his ever-present enthusiasm, his informative and interesting presentations, and his exemplary assistance and support over the years in facilitating meeting space for the South Okanagan group. During the home- bound COVID days, we learned the value of bringing together “like minds” for in-person exchanges on all topics astronomical, and deeply appreciate all the efforts he has expended over the years to help provide meeting space, greet us warmly at the Okanagan College Penticton Campus, promote the society by inviting his interested students to join our meetings, and make sure we had enough coffee to keep our conversations spirited. Ryan has also gone above and beyond in his support of our two annual treks to the top of Munson Mountain for the RASC-OC PenHenge solstice events, helping us obtain the necessary permits and insurance coverage, and even risking frostbite shoveling steps when temperatures dipped to -30C! We also now know that Ryan’s bonfire building skills are on par with those of Chris Purton, which is saying something, from these two Farleigh Lake mountain men. We are ever grateful for Ryan’s support, engaging demeanor, and many contributions to the RASC-OC.
