The difference made by declination
When an object is setting essentially horizontal to the horizon, just 8 minutes of declination makes an observable difference! This is Venus at approximately 4 1/3° (that’s 260 minutes) north of the Sun’s declination at Summer Solstice. Without the “interference” of the Alaska Range, Venus at this declination (≥ 27°40’) would be circumpolar (never set) for Talkeetna, latitude 62°20’ N.
