01 Annular Eclipse Oct 14, 2023

01 Annular Eclipse Oct 14, 2023

01 Annular Eclipse Oct 14, 2023; 09h21m07sPDT. Stellarvue 80mm with a Televue Ethos 13mm (43x, 2.3deg FOV). Peekaboo!
I wanted to make a mad dash to see the nearby solar eclipse. I mean, when was the last solar eclipse so close to home? I pulled the trigger and less than 45 hours from the eclipse time, I found myself heading south. The morning of the eclipse found me on Highway 140 halfway between Lakeview & Adel in southern Oregon. Clouds were a slight problem, but the eclipse was visible. I decided to take several afocal pictures using my iPhone 6s. Some enhancements made afterwards to bring out details or increase contrast. The other two parties in our ‘Oct 2023 Eclipse or Bust’ trip were successful as well.
