The Serwa Basalt

The Serwa Basalt

This outcropping is on the property of the new Serwa gravel pit and respect should be exercised by not wandering around in the gravel pit except for the little bit you need to view the formation.
From the observatory entry road follow the short branch of the 201 east as it parallels the Big White road on the north side. When the 201 turns back on to the Big White road walk another 90 paces east until arriving at a watercourse that passes through a culvert under Big White road. Turn north and follow the watercourse, easy to track through the forest on the west side of the wet spongy ground of the watercourse. You will arrive at this scree field. It looks quite intimidating but with care and attention to footing the climb is not as bad as it looks.
