Comet ZTF Jan 6/23
An Astro-Tech AT72EDII and a ZWO ASI2600MC Pro. camera was used to capture this picture of Comet ZTF on January 6, 2023. Eight 60s exposures were taken and processed it in Pixinsight.
I had finished up a night shift and was surprised to see a crystal clear sky so I raced home and set up the telescope. As soon as I had it all set up, a huge wall of clouds swept in but I decided to see how things would pan out. The occasional holes came in so I chose to shoot a shorter exposure time to hopefully snag some keepers. Managed to get a handful of 60 second exposures that were good enough for a once in a life time comet and was thrilled to see the faint ion tail in the image. If the forecast remains bleak, I'll be travelling to shoot this a few more times.
