The sky improved and I set up my Sky-Watcher 80mm apochromatic refractor on the western slopes of the valley just off Chopaka Rd. For my photographic efforts, I used my aging Samsung Galaxy A5 cell phone, fixed to a generic Sky-Watcher 10 mm Plossl eyepiece, adding a 2x Tele Vue barlow. To dim the sun for safe viewing I’d contrived a full-aperture filter using Baader Astrosolar Film in a recycled chocolate powder cylinder that fit nicely over the telescope’s primary optics.
