Solar transits by Venus and Mercury offer dramatic experiences of seeing celestial mechanics in action. On November 8, 2006 it was Mercury's turn. This somewhat overexposed image shows sunspot groups to the lower left and upper right, and the tiny disk of Mercury silhouetted bottom left center on the Sun's disk. The picture was taken through a Borg 101ED apo with sun filter with a 1/500 exposure.
