Messier 24 (#27)
The small Sagittarius Star Cloud or M 24 shows how dense the star population is toward the central part of the Milky Way Galaxy. The bright star concentration to the center left is Collinder 469. The two dark nebulae are Barnard 92 and 93 which obscure parts of the cloud which is about 9,400 light years distant.
A series of nine guided 10 minute exposures was taken on August 16, 2012 from Star Trails Observatory in Summerland using a 101mm Borg Astrograph with an IDAS filter. They were captured by a modified Canon XSi DSLR operating at ISO 1600 and processed with Dark frames with ImagesPlus.
