In 2008 the telescope committee was joined by aircraft machinist Keith Rawcliffe of Vernon who had an impressive telescope building background including machining his own Maksutov telescope. One of his crowning achievements was the design and fabrication of the vane system on the head end which includes the mounting for the 10" secondary flat. His upper tube assembly affords: secondary support, a central port for a laser collimator, collimation adjustments for the secondary and provision for focal point adjustment.
