The door was made using the same approach. It is secured inside the cabinet frame with magnetic household catches. A ventilation grill circulates hot air out which is replaced by an inflow from around the base of the pier. White enamel deflects the Sun's heat.
The approach has worked very well. In cases where the location of the pier is not secure a more substantial construction approach would be needed.
