The Moon Maiden studies Plato
The sun angle on the evening of Jan. 26, 2018 was just right to reveal the "Moon Maiden" -- a formation on the western rim of Sinus Iridum, resembling a female face in profile with hair wafting out behind. Cropped from a cell phone snapshot taken handheld through a 10 mm eyepiece on a 12" Dobsonian telescope. At upper left is the prominent dark-floored crater Plato. See next image for labelling.
