Alnitak, the eastern belt star of Orion is flanked by the Flame Nebula and the silhouette of the Horsehead Nebula.
The picture is from an imaging run in Summerland on the 0° night of February 17, 2015. A total of 16 ten minute exposures were taken with a modified Canon XSi DSLR camera through a Borg 101ED apo in f4.2 astrograph mode using an IDAS nebula filter, and they were processed and combined in ImagesPlus.
