IC 1805 The Heart Nebula (#55)
This image of the Heart Nebula in Cassiopeia was taken on the cool -5C evening of November 14, 2014 from Summerland, B.C. A Borg 101ED apo in f4.2 astrograph mode was used with an IDAS V3 nebula filter. A run of ten 15 min. sub exposures were taken at ISO 1600 with a modified Canon XSi camera and were graded out and processed with dark frames in ImagesPlus.
The Heart Nebula is located 7,500 light years from Earth and its intense red emission is driven by radiation from the small group of stars in its center known as Melotte 15.
