This image of NGC 891 in Andromeda was taken on September 3, 2014 in Summerland. An Orion 8" RC Astrograph was used with an IDAS V3 filter. The sub exposures were taken with a modified Canon XSi camera operating at ISO 1600. Ten 10 minute exposures were processed with dark files in ImagesPlus.
NGC 891 is an edge-on galaxy which is part of the local group. It is located 30 million light years away and is thought to be similar to our Milky Way galaxy in size.
