This image of Messier 17 was captured on July 28, 2014 from Summerland using a Borg ED101 Apo operating at f6.3. Ten 5 minute exposures at ISO 800 were taken with a Canon XSi and combined with dark exposures in ImagesPlus.
This was a remarkably warm, quiet evening with 24 C. temperatures and a fairly hazy southern sky. Nice to scan along the southern Milky Way with binoculars as the exposures were being taken.
For those interested, the bright golden star nearby is 5.37 mag. SAO 161348... no particular name, just a pretty face with its K2 classification accounting for its colour.
