Totality at 37000ft

Totality at 37000ft

North Atlantic at 37000ft in an aircraft to witness a Total Eclipse of the Sun I took this photo using my wide angle lens, the main feature is the moons shadow chasing past the aircraft, the shadow is elliptical so hundreds of kilometer at the edge of the shadow, the sunlight has the appearance of sunset, the shadow also makes the top of the clouds below dark with no details visible during totality. This is my sixth Total Eclipse but the first where I saw the moons shadow as plain as at this eclipse. Note the jet engine at lower right in the pic which was very noisy this close to the jet
